“We need manual 4-inch butterfly valves, but we want them fitted with visual open/close indicators usually reserved for automated valves.”

The Problem: No Easy Visual Confirmation
Manual butterfly valves are robust, reliable, and cost-effective — but they have one limitation: unless you are close enough to see the lever’s position or remember the orientation, it’s not always immediately obvious whether the valve is open, closed, or somewhere in between.
In industries like mining, liquid handling, or plant operations, this uncertainty can lead to:

Our client wanted a clear, visual status indicator visible from a distance, without upgrading to full pneumatic or electric actuation.

- Selecting the right base valve – We chose 4” (100mm) Coreline Butterfly Valves with lever operation for their proven durability and smooth operation.
- Designing the custom visual indicator solution – This required integration with a heavy-duty limit switch box to ensure long service life in harsh Australian conditions.

- Typically used in automation, this housing provides a mechanical flag that clearly shows valve position (open/closed).
- Built for IP67 ingress protection, it’s ideal for outdoor, dusty, and wet environments.
- Custom Mounting Fabrication
- Our in-house fabricators designed a precision bracket to secure the limit switch box above the manual valve lever.
- The mounting ensures the indicator moves in sync with the valve position.
- Mechanical Linkage Alignment
- A direct mechanical connection between the lever and indicator shaft ensures real-time, accurate position feedback.
- Paint & Finish
- Corrosion-resistant coatings applied to all fabricated parts for extended outdoor service.
